Mifex set up its finance program in April, 2006, with the mission of helping poor Ecuadorian business owners lift their families and their communities out of poverty. Six months later, the first group of borrowers finished repaying their $500 loans. A change in their quality of life and an increase in business activity was immediately noticeable. As a tribute to these borrowers, and especially to the Kiva lenders who provided the capital, we proudly present the profiles of our first ten borrowers.
Many of these borrowers are already listed on Kiva for a second loan, and many are seeking their next loan, so we hope that those of you who visit this page will join the world of Kiva lending and help bring whole communities out of poverty, one business at a time.
